For a long time my world has been shaped by two often-separated universes, one of science, one of art. However, in studying both chemical engineering and visual art throughout my collegiate career, I’ve realized that these dimensions aren’t as disparate as they may first appear. Although the mass production of chemicals and the personal interface of sculpture may have different goals, they accomplish them in the same exact way: manipulation and metamorphosis of matter from one thing to another.

When I started out, my knowledge of both disciplines was less adequate, and I began my sculptural studies with the unsurprising topic of anatomy. While my work has since branched out from creating appendages in various forms, I still believe that the human body is the most complex and impressive machine ever developed.

Currently I’m intrigued with nature and the natural forces, especially the arduous notion of trying to control and overcome them. Fire and gravity; magnetism, light, and electricity; evolution. As I keep learning more about the magnificence of science and the intricate power of art, I hope to ultimately weld them together and grind down the seam, polishing them into one gleaming whole.
